Training and Approval Process
Caring for children is a fulfilling but sometimes demanding task. At Kaleidoscope you will attend a series of foster care training programmes geared to give you the necessary skills to handling most situations.
This is particularly important in preparation for your approval as a Foster Carer, ahead of your first placement. Attending these courses will require a commitment from both you and your partner for up to 10 sessions, spread over evenings and weekends.
Looking after children who are not your own is a professional role and the Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) have produced training, support and development standards for Foster Care. In your first year you will be helped to understand and achieve these standards allowing you to receive a CWDC Certificate of successful completion.
The Opportunity for Training Doesn't Stop There
Once you are regularly fostering for us, you will be able to attend weekly training courses and support groups. These courses are aimed at helping you hone your skills and provide additional support for the children in your care.
