Obviously it helps if you have previous fostering or related child care experience but more importantly, at Kaleidoscope we want carers who are enthusiastic about becoming part of a team who together can help children to recover from bad experiences, understand why they behave as they do (and help them change their behaviour where necessary) and support them in their growth towards becoming happy, healthy and sociable adults - ultimately becoming good parents to their own children.
Like many organisations we set out some fairly simple rules that we ask potential applicants to match before applying to become a foster carer.
Can you drive and do you have use of a car?
Would a fostered child have their own bedroom?
Is the youngest child living at home aged 9 years or more?
If you can answer YES to ALL THREE - you are well on you way to enrolling on of our training programmes.
