Kaleidoscope has built a sound reputation for working successfully with young children who have been severely traumatised, usually experiencing multiple abuse - physical, sexual and emotional. We pride ourselves on achieving extremely successful outcomes, stabilising the lives of children who have not had the best start in life.
We are situated in the idyllic Tunstall area of Kent, the heart of our operation being Keystun, an extremely large family home where we have a number of rooms to enable us to fulfil the day-to-day needs of running a successful and specialist Independent Foster Placement service. These include consultation rooms for our Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and a Child Psychotherapist, both very much part of the make-up ensuring we provide the very best care and support for fostered children.
The major benefit Keystun brings to our service is that of creating an ambiance that is welcoming rather than institutional. We believe this is important, the nurturing, homely atmosphere we provide is commented upon favourably by visiting social workers and other professionals, as well as carers and fostered children.
Training and Education are high on our list of priorities therefore we have created a training room that satisfies the needs of the child and carer. Here children take part in individual programmes of compensatory education to complement and support statutory educational provision. This is provided by teachers who specialise in educational support, and have additional training in helping pupils with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, or emotional and behavioural difficulties.
The grounds at Keystun are themselves ‘healing and tranquil’ and are used as a place where children can take part in our many varied fun-packed event days. We see these events as a key part in the therapeutic healing process for children.
